Syntheses and Characterizations of New Cyano-substituted Pyrazoles

Abstract


To further expand the class of cyanoscorpionate ligands, 4-cyano-3,5-substituted pyrazoles have been synthesized and structurally characterized. They will be applied to prepare the first symmetrically substituted cyanoscorpionate.

Using bulky substituents in the 3- and 5-position of the pyrazolyl ring, we expect to synthesize multi-dentate polypyrazolylborate ligands, and respectively control the accessibility of the metal ion. Metal complexes of the ligands are expected to show short contacts as M---NºC, indicating the ligand’s potential to form coordination polymers, leading to potential electronic/magnetic materials and catalytic applications.
